Welcome

I have worked with children and families for twenty years.  I especially enjoy working with teenagers. I'll use my education and experience to help you work through problems you may be encountering with your teenager thus enabling you all to enjoy a more peaceful existence.

I utilize an eclectic approach to intervention drawing from a variety of intervention strategies including, but not limited to, solution focussed, cognitive behavioural, reality therapy and family systems models.

My approach depends upon your needs and the problem issues to be resolved. Addressing problems and making life changes is not an easy process. I will work with you to identify the problem areas of your life and together we will work out options to facilitate the changes you decide to make.

Using a holistic approach I am committed to working with individuals and families, utilizing problem identification, an action plan, goal- setting, and ongoing evaluation of results to ensure your goals are met and you are satisfied with the intervention. My ultimate goal is to assist you in reaching your full potential in life, and to enjoy increased life energy and a greater sense of well being.

While the process of counselling is not always easy for the client, and at times can be uncomfortable as one confronts often painful and stressful issues, it can be extremely worthwhile and rewarding.  As M. Scott Peck tells us, in his book The Road Less Travelled, “Life is difficult”. While we all experience stressful situations    throughout our life’s journey, it is often difficult to face these alone. At such times the individual can benefit from the education, skills and experience of a professional counsellor.

With a client centred approach, you, as the client will determine the direction counselling will take and the concerns you wish to address at that point in time.

life is a marathon and not a sprint

All counselling is strictly confidential. Records related to your counselling; or even the fact that you are a client, are only to be released to others with your written permission, or by a court order. You are entitled to privacy and to expect that all communication and records related to your service are kept confidential.

There are exceptions to this contract of confidentiality; your therapist is required by law to report to the proper authorities in the case of child abuse (if a person who is a child is being hurt or is in danger), or if there is any possibility of a suicide or homicide, and if your reports are subpoenaed by a Court.
